Letter From the Principal

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students & Community Members,

Welcome to the Rochester Stockbridge Unified School District we offer preschool thru grade six at both schools.  Our students in grades seven thru twelve have school choice.  I am extremely excited for another school year and to develop a continuing partnership in your child’s education with all our stakeholders.  I truly feel honored and lucky to work within both our Rochester and Stockbridge Schools. Rochester Stockbridge Schools' beliefs, principles, and best practices focus around our multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and our commitment to all students being respectful, responsible, and ready to learn.

It is the belief of our faculty that it is essential to provide a learning environment for all our students where being safe, respectful, and ready to learn are the expectations.  These expectations create the foundation and learning environment for the social, emotional, and academic success of all students.

A typical day of learning within Rochester & Stockbridge Schools includes ninety minutes of literacy instruction, sixty to seventy minutes of mathematics instruction, social studies, science, and writing.  We pride ourselves on our continuing professional development that has supported our teaching staff in providing and delivering a rigorous curriculum that guides our students to meet proficiencies.

Within both our schools we are excited to provide a wide range of essential offerings – world languages, outdoor education, music, physical education, pathways, winter wellness (downhill skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding & ice-skating), art and library.  We subscribe to the model that these offerings in addition to our core academic curriculum enhance and benefit our students' educational experience and develop the growth of their social-emotional learning.

We look forward to and encourage all our parents, and community members to be an active part of our students' learning and success at Rochester & Stockbridge Schools.

Sincerely,

Lindy Stetson
